CONSCIENCE (2007)
CONSCIENCE a series of diptychs by Christopher Makos and Paul Solberg Human beings need myths. We are led to the soul; drawn to the truth. The Statue of Poseidon, Athena, Zeus; they speak to some kind of undefined truth. Our universal stories are found in these men and women in stone. Zeus was "the King of the Gods", "the ruler of Mount Olympus". After his death, other men decide he will live after his death, as a Statue. He stands with arms extended for nearly 3000 years; watching strangers walk up to him, examining him, asking questions. He is, perhaps, more an observer of us, than we are of him. These statues are the truth tellers, the ambassadors of Conscience. They are what link us to each other through the centuries.
